4 Tips to keep a clean learning environment

Teachers, principals and parents all share in the caring of a safe and clean learning environment for the students or children. This is why we have come up with tips to keep the classroom clean. It is a huge responsibility for staff to keep classrooms clean to avoid the spread of germs, bacteria and sicknesses. Below are Tips to keep the classroom clean and to slow the spread of flu specifically through cleaning and disinfecting.

1. Know the difference between cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitising

Cleaning – Works by using soap or water removes germs and dirt from surfaces and objects. This process does not necessarily kill germs but can lower the effect and spread.

Disinfecting – Through the use of chemicals disinfecting will kill germs, this should be done in addition to cleaning to lower the risk of a spreading infection.

Sanitising – This completely restores the area back to a safe level, kills and removes germs and infections.

2. Clean and disinfect common touch points

Areas like desks, computers, door handles, toys, matting and rugs should be cleaned frequently to avoid the spread of germs and infections.

Immediately clean surfaces and objects that are visibly touched. If surfaces or objects are soiled with body fluids or blood, use gloves and other standard precautions to avoid coming into contact with the fluid. Remove the spill, and then clean and disinfect the surface.

3. Routine cleaning and disinfecting

It is important to ensure the equipment and chemicals you are using remove and kill the germs you are attacking. Routine cleaning, vacuuming, wiping over surfaces and disinfecting high tough points goes a long way to preventing infections in schools.

4. Use door mats
